About NSO

From Lost to Leading

尼泊尔学生组织

How a promise between friends became a home for Nepali students across all of China.

Who We Are

The Heart of NSO

The Nepalese Students Organization (NSO) is a non-political, non-profit social organization of Nepalese students studying in China. Formed by students from different universities across China, it represents nearly a decade of shared vision and collaborative effort among its founders.

NSO operates on the principle that every Nepalese student in China deserves comprehensive support, guidance, and a sense of community throughout their academic journey — a bridge between informal peer support and formal institutional assistance.

More than a student body, NSO is a bridge between Nepal and China — nurturing genuine people-to-people friendship in the land of the dragon.

2025 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China.

What Defines Us

Three Pillars

By Students, For Students

A formal structure for the peer support that has always existed informally — with expanded reach and reliable resources.

A Sino-Nepal Bridge

Nurturing genuine people-to-people friendship between Nepal and China in the land of the dragon.

Comprehensive Support

Academic, professional, cultural, legal, and emotional — addressing the whole student journey, not just the paperwork.

The Journey

Our Story, Year by Year我们的故事

It started with seven friends, instant noodles, and a Nepali flag on a t-shirt.

2016

Lost at Pudong

Krishna Gopal Yadav, 18, lands at Shanghai Pudong Airport at 11 PM on September 5 with six Nepali friends. No Chinese phone number, no Google, no language — stranded in one of the world's most prosperous cities.

2016

A Flag, A Lifeline

The next morning, hungry with only instant noodles, they walk out searching for food. Rajesh Singh's t-shirt bearing the Nepali flag is spotted by senior students Radhe 'dai' and Vibration 'dai' — and the nightmare ends.

2016

A Seed is Planted

Over 30 Nepalese students arrived at Tongji University that same September, all facing similar struggles. The collective experience sparked the idea for what would become NSO.

2023

The Dream Rekindled

Post-COVID, Yadav returns to China and witnesses new students struggling again. After graduating in September 2023, he begins taking concrete steps toward the shared dream.

2025

NSO is Born

The collective dream finally materializes. NSO is registered in Nepal and ready to serve students across all of China — a home away from home.
